Driven to the streets

Last week, around 50 solicitors and barristers donned wigs and gowns, hopped into a fleet of London taxis, and set off on a treasure hunt around the capital's legal landmarks.

The event, which was won by a team from 11 Stone Buildings, raised more than 8,000 for Bliss, the national charity for the newborn.

So are these the winning barristers in the picture on the right? Erm, no.

They are actually a couple of women from Bliss's PR department.

'PR people are more attractive than lawyers,' one of them declared.

Obiter is told by sources that it was felt a group of 'hairy old men' would not make for a particularly appealing photograph.

If only it was not such a good cause, we would predict an uprising by the hirsute.
