Eastbourne office splits from Wynne Baxter to form LLP

The Eastbourne branch of Brighton-based firm Wynne Baxter this week joined a growing number of practices demerging - when it span off into an eight-lawyer limited liability partnership (LLP) called Cornfield Law.

All former Wynnes' staff from Eastbourne have joined the LLP, which has three members - all former Wynnes partners - five assistants, one trainee and a seven-strong business recovery team.

It will continue to practise private client, commercial, residential conveyancing and litigation work.

Andrew Board, a commercial lawyer and member of Cornfield, said the demerger with Wynnes was amicable and that morale was high.

Chris Coopey, the Brighton-based head of Wynne Baxter's practice development group, agreed that the move had been amicable.

He said: 'Eastbourne was not core to Wynne Baxter's business.

It is a difficult place in terms of geography and communication and the upshot was that the Eastbourne office was difficult to fully integrate.' He said Wynnes would continue to grow organically.
