Eight members of the Law Society Council have put their names forward to become the next Deputy Vice-President.
They are: Denis Cameron (whose constituency is central Lancashire and Northern Greater Manchester); Helen Davies (West Country and Gwent); Christopher Digby-Bell (Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire); Michael Franks (West London); Derek French (Birmingham and District); Bob Heslett (Leeds); Paul Marsh (Surrey); and Fraser Whitehead (Holborn).
After each count, the bottom candidate drops out and their second-choice votes are transferred to other candidates until someone has a majority. The result will be announced in mid-May.
Meanwhile, Glyn Maddocks, a partner at Welsh firm Gabb & Co, has been elected to the vacant council seat for the west country and Gwent until 2007.
