Green deal: National firm Addleshaw Goddard advised a number of banks, led by Bank of Ireland, on financing a construction project by the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority. The 25-year private finance initiative, worth an estimated £4bn, aims to boost recycling and reduce landfill use in the north-west by 75%. The European Investment Bank, which assisted in the financing, was advised by magic circle firm Clifford Chance. National firm Eversheds advised the authority.

Business help: Magic circle firm Allen & Overy advised the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform on signing its first working capital guarantee, under a £10bn scheme to help small and medium-sized businesses. BERR will guarantee up to 50% of a portfolio of loans made by the Royal Bank of Scotland to UK businesses. Magic circle firm Clifford Chance advised RBS.

Double Macquarie: Magic circle firm Freshfields, alongside Australian firm Allens Arthur Robinson, advised the CPP Investment Board on its acquisition of the Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Group and Macquarie Communications Infrastructure Management, for a combined total of A$2bn (£1bn). Magic circle firm Clifford Chance and US firm Baker & McKenzie advised the Macquarie companies.

Broadcast news: City firm SJ Berwin advised broadcast technology company Snell & Wilcox on merging its broadcasting business with broadcast technology company Pro-Bel for £72m. South-west firm Osborne Clarke advised Pro-Bel.

Real estate: London firm Ingram Winter Green advised NW8 Holdings on acquiring JS Real Estate, the holding company for 1 to 51 St John’s Wood High Street, London, for £39m. The transaction was funded by DekaBank, which was advised by City firm Berwin Leighton Paisner. JS Real Estate was advised by City firm Davies Arnold Cooper.
