Esure joins fraud fight
Esure, the on-line insurer, has linked with an on-line personal injury database that aims to provide insurers with details of all personal injury claims and claimants in the UK to block frauds.
Database CUE PI was developed by global information solutions company Experian.
It will feature information from the compensation recovery unit, and aims to have a record of all personal injury claims for the UK population.
This will allow insurers, such as esure - the first to sign up - to check a claimant's past claims history.
Mike Prentice, managing director of the insurance services division at Experian, said: 'Fraud is a big problem for the personal injury industry, and this database has been developed to help prevent it - insurers can immediately identify non-disclosure of claims, and false and multiple claims by an individual.'
Insurers who submit claims to the compensation recovery unit by paper, will be able to do so using an Internet link.
