National firm Eversheds last week announced an association with Swedish firm Andrén Bratt Partners, its tenth international tie-up in less than four years.

Andrén Bratt was formed in 2003 and has four partners and ten lawyers. It specialises in corporate, employment, insolvency and litigation, and clients include the Swedish government, Calyon Bank, TeliaSonera, Credit Agricole Group, Toyota, CapMan and Bonnier Entertainment.

The pair have previously worked together on deals, including on last year's £240 million acquisition by SEB, the north European financial banking group, of Codan Life & Pensions. The firm will be known locally as Andrén Bratt Eversheds.

Eversheds chairman Alan Jenkins explained that Sweden is home to many major international companies and that as the Scandinavian market becomes increasingly integrated, it is becoming a key gateway to developing eastern European nations, including the Baltic states.

Since January 2002, Eversheds has also made major moves in Italy, Qatar, Denmark, China, Spain, Hungary, Austria, Malaysia, Poland and Germany.
