As solicitors who qualified in 1975, we share the outrage expressed through your pages about misleading statements relating to solicitors on Tesco's website (see [2007] Gazette, 26 July, 1).
We feel so insulted that we have written to Tesco to say that, unless it alters the content of the website to make it more balanced between solicitors and licensed conveyancers, we shall take our loyalty away and shop elsewhere.
The loss of our custom may well be a drop in the ocean for Tesco, but this slight upon the service which solicitors offer moves us sufficiently to take this action. Tesco's actions may cause many other members of the profession to do likewise.
