The Law Society is inviting applications for the position of chief assessor/examiner for the family law panel.

It is particularly interested in hearing from solicitors with significant experience in the family law field who have a good understanding of assessment issues.

The successful candidate will need to devote approximately two days per month to panel activities.

The post, which will carry an honorarium of 8,000 per year plus expenses, will involve:

- Overseeing and directing panel assessors who are involved in the assessment process for panel membership applications to ensure consistency and that the standard is maintained;

- Advising the Law Society, and Law Society adjudicators, on individual applications and technical issues;

- Advising and supporting the Law Society in relation to the development and promotion of the family law panel;

- Advising and reporting to the relevant Law Society committee, and;

- Acting as chief examiner of the family law examination board.

The position will be for three years, subject to a period of notice on either side.
