Faster chain reactions

An east London law firm has helped to develop a working e-conveyancing system four years ahead of the government's deadline for implementation of a complete paperless office revolution.

Davis & Co joined business media solutions provider VipLondon to work on the 'In the Chain' system with the aim of easing the burden of communication in conveyancing for an affordable price.

The fully functional package is officially launched this week.

The system enables all parties involved with a chain of transactions to monitor how it is progressing on-line, and also provides a confidential forum for the exchange of e-mail information between solicitors and estate agents.

Only parties who have a password can log on and access either the chain of properties or individual properties they are dealing with.

Partner Christopher Davis said he was confident that the product would be a valuable tool.

'In the Chain should raise efficiency and productivity levels, provide a collaborative environment to interface with clients, and provide better service to the law firm's clients,' he said.
