National firm Hammonds has appointed Crawford Gillies, former managing director for Europe at management consultancy Bain & Co, its first non-executive chairman. His appointment follows the firm's decision last year to reorganise its management structure and to strengthen its corporate governance. Peter Crossley, Hammonds' managing partner, said: 'The role is a pivotal one. We are delighted to have secured the services of such a high-calibre person.'
