Flying the flag
The rise of Newcastle's brightest legal star, Lucy Winskell, continues unchecked, Obiter is pleased to report.
Ms Winskell is a rare thing: a solicitor who is both female and young (just about) and has already spent four years on the Law Society's Council, during which time she also became the first woman president of Newcastle Law Society.
Now, because the Eversheds partner is 'willing to think outside the box', so we are informed by the organisers, she has been selected as one of 24 UK delegates at the British-American Project in New York in November.
The project aims to reinforce ties between the UK and US by bringing together young people who have achieved distinction in their chosen field.
She will join Geordie Greig, editor of Tatler, and broadcaster Annabel Heseltine in the delegation.
We are sure this real high-flying Geordie will develop a glamorous image as the profession's own Jackie Onassis.
However, Ms Winskell hotly denied to the Gazette that she has any interest in rich old men.
