The Gazette is delighted to showcase firms spreading festive cheer
Yorkshire firm Minster Law hosted a quiz night to raise funds for SURF, a charity supporting patients at the Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre in Pinderfields Hospital.
Through its ‘Mission Christmas’ campaign, the firm also donated gifts to children in Beeston who are living in poverty or facing illness or neglect.
Staff at personal injury firm Express Solicitors provided more than 300 mince pies to St Wilfrid’s CofE Primary school in Northenden, near the firm’s headquarters in south Manchester, for parents and carers to enjoy at the school’s Christmas performances.
Express also donated hampers to two schools that staff members have ties to for their Christmas fairs. Employees gave gifts to CAFT (Children’s Adventure Farm Trust) and Manchester Christmas Relief. Both charities provide Christmas gifts for sick and disadvantaged children.
The clinical negligence team at Liverpool firm Bond Turner dedicated its Christmas jumper day to Stick n Step, a charity supporting young people with cerebral palsy. Senior associate Carla Duprey and trainee solicitor Anna Phillips also ran the Liverpool Santa dash two weeks ago for Stick n Step.
The firm also did a Christmas gift collection for the Come Together Campaign in Liverpool - supporting families who are struggling this year.
South west firm Stephens Scown had a substantial amount of food left over from some colleagues not being able to attend its Christmas party at the Alverton Hotel. The firm put the hotel in touch with homeless charity St Petrocs and arranged for a large food delivery to be made. Verity Slater and Tegan Forward (Volunteering lead) from Stephens Scown’s Giving Back team also delivered boxes of chocolates for the charity’s staff.
Bell Lamb & Joynson Solicitors, based in the north west, did its annual Christmas collection for local charities. The firm donated toys to the Salvation Army in Walton-Vale, hygiene and health products to Halton Haven Hospice, and lots of food to the Diamond Community Centre food bank in Ashton-in-Makerfield.
The team at Manchester firm Olliers Solicitors delivered food items to The 5th Avenue Project in Stockport part of Great Minds Together, a specialist service supporting neurodivergent individuals with complex mental health needs and their families.
There was also a delivery of Christmas presents to Wood Street Mission in Manchester as well as a Christmas jumper day in support of Save the Children International.
Four charities have this month received an equal share of £100,000 raised during the year by national firm Bevan Britton.
Age UK Birmingham, 1625 Independent People in Bristol, Zarach in Leeds and Thames Reach in London will benefit from the festive funding boost, receiving £25,000 each, after being chosen by each of the firm’s offices.
