I note that the Solicitors Indemnity Fund (SIF) is contemplating repaying a £54 million surplus to the Law Society. Since the Society as a body made no payments, but payments were made by members of the profession, this repayment must be held by the Society on trust for its members.
I look forward to hearing from the Society how it proposes to pass us our money. Perhaps by a pro-rata reduction in next year's practising certificate fees?
