Deborah Green, Law Society regional manager for Yorkshire, has been named Yorkshire Lawyer of the Year for 2006. She also won the enterprise award at the Yorkshire Lawyer Awards, primarily for the Leeds Legal marketing campaign, which focuses on the specialist areas of advice lawyers in the city can offer national and international clients (see 2006 Gazette, 16 March, 6). The campaign targets potential clients in major cities in Europe that, like Leeds, are not the capitals of their country. Ms Green said: 'I had no idea I was nominated for either of the awards. I am proud of the work the regional office in Yorkshire does to support solicitors and their businesses.' Law firm winners at the 2006 awards included Pinsent Masons (firms with 31 or more partners), Switalski's (firms with 30 or fewer partners), and Ridley & Hall (specialist firm). Individual winners were Mary Butler of Bell & Buxton (private client) and DLA Piper lawyers Neil McLean (real estate), Stephen Atkinson (corporate finance), and Paul Stone (dispute resolution) plus Chris Fry of Wake Smith (rising star).
