The present distinction might indicate the calling of the advocate but the obvious impression given to the public, jury or the litigants is unmistakable.

Having said that, I would hope the way forward would be to persuade the Lord Chancellor to agree that advocates should not wear wigs at all.

This would seem to be the best way forward and might be a more palatable solution for the Bar to take on board.
