Harmonisation of training may mean compulsory Euro CPD ; ;Lawyers face compulsory continuing professional development (CPD) in European Union law under plans unveiled to harmonise legal training in the EU.

;A resolution passed last month by the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) set out the principles of a review it is to carry out on harmonisation, including a requirement that a proportion of CPD is dedicated to Community law and European comparative law.

;The resolution also says that all legal training in the EU should feature concrete and practical applications of Community law, an introduction to the characteristics of great European legal systems and knowledge of the European code of conduct formulated by the CCBE.

;The review will also look at duration and content of academic and practical training, as well as the possibility of common training of EU law teachers, perhaps on a Community level.
