It remains a mystery how members of the Young Solicitors Group (YSG) can be under-represented in the Law Society's activities when solicitors younger than 35 account for a staggering 47% of the roll.

The YSG's letter (see [2003] Gazette, 24 July, 16) raises the question of who is representing older solicitors or would-be solicitors?

Since there is no 'Older Solicitors Group' who will tackle the shamefully low representation in the legal profession of older trainees and solicitors older than 55?
