Hold the front page - a new boy for Newbury

We receive more than our fair share of not entirely fascinating press releases, the only interest being that the senders think them newsworthy.

A release three years back from Newcastle firm Ward Hadaway on its recruitment of an assistant librarian is one that sticks in the mind, but home counties practice Charles Lucas & Marshall last week set a new standard in hot personnel news with the revelation that commercial property lawyer John Bulpit is relocating from the firm's Hungerford office to its base in Newbury, a good ten miles or so down the road.

Even more interesting is that the firm paid for an external PR to spread the word, and may well be the poorer for these few inches of coverage.
