Ice man cometh in charity raiser

City institution Slaughter and May proved itself a step ahead of the rest once more last week in an arena that really matters - the Broadgate Circle Ice Rink.

The firm was taking part in the annual City Ice Skate organised by Sense, the charity for people who are both deaf and blind, and its team managed 44 laps in the ten minutes available, one more than its nearest rival.

The theme for the event was the 1980s, and it must be a matter of concern that team members found it all too easy to ditch their pinstripes in favour of drainpipes, puffballs, batwings and fingerless gloves.

If that does not stop the City-wide move to dress down, then nothing will.
