It seems incongruous that the new GP contract is being advocated as a model and panacea for legal aid at a time when the 'trade' magazines for general practitioners are full of news reports, articles and letters from doctors complaining about the form and substance of the same contract, and castigating the GP's leaders for having been persuaded by the government negotiators to accept the contract on behalf of their members.
