It's not all 'OK, yah' in PR
Shock news reaches us from the world of public relations: it's not just a game played by toffs from Chelsea called Sophie and Tarquin.
A massive survey by Daryl Wilcox Publishing of the names of 5,055 people working in PR (how's that for time well spent while the world teeters on the edge of war?) found that Sarah, Emma, Claire, Kate and Helen are the most popular names for female PR bods, with Sophie and Charlotte way down the list.
For men, David, Paul, John, Chris and Richard topped the charts, with Tarquin at 115th, and Tristan and Rupert joint 184th.
Research by the Gazette of an almost equal depth (we gave it a few minutes' thought) found that law firms have a go at bucking the trend.
There are of course plenty of common or garden Sarahs and Davids (and Kerrys and Steves), but the top firms and their agencies also boasts the likes of a Fenella, Selina, Oliver, Virginia, Amelia, Quentin, Camile, and Geraldine - after all, they do have a reputation to uphold.
