James Bolton, a Law Society Council member from 1975 to 1989, has died at the age of 93. A former member of the Society’s conveyancing and land law committee, he qualified in the 1950s and spent his entire career with Longmores in Hertford, ultimately as senior partner.

He was a county coroner for Hertfordshire, as well as a deputy lieutenant of the county. He also served the Law Society on the remuneration committee dealing with solicitor-client fee disputes.
