John Craig JordanApplication 8099/2000Hearing, 19 April 2000;reasons, 8 June 2000
In November 1999, the SDT suspended the applicant from practice for an indefinite period with effect from 18 December 1999, unless by that date he had complied in full with two directions of the OSS.
The directions required the applicant to pay sums of money.
The sums were paid shortly before the deadline, but one payment was 100 short.
The shortfall was made good within a few days - but after the deadline.
The chairman of the SDT ruled that, as the applicant had not fully complied with the SDT's order, the suspension had taken effect; further, the chairman assumed that, in the circumstances, if the applicant wished to have the suspension lifted he would have to apply to the SDT in the normal way.
The applicant applied for the suspension to be determined, and the application was granted.
The applicant was ordered to pay costs (to be assessed).
