Judicial adoration
It is not just the Royal family which gets Americans excited, but the British judiciary too.
As part of his research into the criminal justice system, Lord Justice Auld undertook a fact-finding mission to the US.
CPS lawyer Nasrin Khan, who accompanied the great man, wrote in CPS News that they were greeted in a Florida court by a standing ovation, led by the judge and followed by the string of bemused defendants waiting for their drugs cases to be heard.
Halting counsel in full flow to introduce the pair, the judge drooled that Sir Robin was 'not just an Appeal Court judge from England but a real Lord as well'.
He then called on Lord Justice Auld to make a speech before inviting him to sit on the bench.
'It was very different from English courts,' said Ms Khan.
'The judge was very amused when he learned that in the UK everyone bows to judges.' In the US, only other judges do that.
