Keep it in the family

Like father like daughter, or like great-great-great-grandfather like daughter in the case of Amy Rothera, the newly-qualified solicitor who this week joined her long-standing family firm, Nottinghamshire-based Rothera Dowson.

Amy - who will be based in the firm's Wollaton office - becomes the sixth generation of her family to serve the local community as a lawyer.

Proud father, deputy coroner, and a partner with the firm Ian Rothera - pictured (right) with his daughter - says: 'I am sure that in time Amy will earn the same reputation and respect that applied to her grandfather and my great grandparents.' George Bell Rothera, the first of the line, was a Liberal on Nottingham Town Council, until he resigned his seat in 1869 as a protest against the bribery which was then rife in connection with municipal elections.
