Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham - the product of the January 2005 merger between US firm Kirkpatrick & Lockhart and City firm Nicholson Graham & Jones - is in talks with west coast US firm Preston Gates & Ellis. If the merger talks are successful, the joint firm would have 1,400 lawyers.
