The Law Centres Federation (LCF) says it has been dealt 'a potentially devastating blow' after the Legal Services Commission (LSC) decided to end its financial support.

The not-for-profit organisation was told this week that the LSC's grant of £165,000 will stop in 12 months.

LCF director Steve Hynes said the grant pays for much of its infrastructure. 'This decision is short-sighted - it will decimate what we can do.' Chairwoman Gillie Sharp called it a 'potentially devastating blow'.

Crispin Passmore, director of the LSC's Community Legal Service, said: 'Money we spend on grants reduces the amount available to help clients directly.'
