The influence of Black Friday has extended into the legal profession, with a smattering of law firms advertising special offers for clients signing up this month. The annual discount day, which started in the US, is usually reserved for the retail sector.

Kent firm Martin Tolhurst Solicitors says on its website that anyone going through a divorce or having issues with their children can book an initial £99 telephone appointment today (or on so-called Cyber Monday next week) and will receive £150 off their next invoice.

The deal is captioned with the words: ‘Black Friday and Cyber Monday, two of the biggest shopping days of the entire year, are just around the corner. And who does not love a special offer?’

Manak Solicitors, based in Dartford, is advertising 10% off conveyancing, fixed family work, wills or immigration services for any client who quotes ‘Black Friday 2021’ before 31 January.

Lovetts Solicitors, based in Surrey, tweeted with the Black Friday hashtag today encouraging people to sign up today for its offer of a free letter before action until 30 November.

South east firm GoodLaw Solicitors LLP is offering a free £50 high street voucher by using the code GoodLaw50 when instructing one of its conveyancers.

Essex firm Nicholls Law is offering 10% off all new enquiries made today, while Dienn’s Law Solicitors from Worthing tweeted last week that as part of a Black Friday deal, it was offering a will and both types of lasting power of attorney for £600 plus VAT, if instructed by the end of November.

Analysts say up to 60% of UK adults will make purchases as part of Black Friday deals, spending an average £280 each.
