EuropeThe Commission has adopted a Directive amending Council Directive 1991/439 in order to harmonise driving test requirements and vehicle adaptions for medical reasons throughout the Community.

R v Robert McIntosh (Unreported, 13 October 2000), The Times 14 October 2000, p.13.
The Criminal Court of Appeal (Edinburgh) ruled that an asset confiscation order made against a convicted drug trafficker under the Proceeds of Crime (Scotland) Act, was unlawful.
The order required the defendant to prove that money had been made legally which was contrary to the European Convention, as it changed the burden of proof.

The library has produced two new legal research guides on human rights to accompany an historical exhibition on human rights.
The first is a guide to finding information on the European Court of Human Rights including commentary on the European Convention, case law and the ECHR Web site.
The second is a detailed guide to searching the HUDOC database on the European Court's Web site.
