The Law Society has opened an office in Newcastle to serve the 2,600 solicitors in the north-east region. Margaret Fay, chairwoman of the regional development agency One NorthEast, said it was 'a real coup' to have attracted the Society to the area. The legal sector is a significant employer in the region, she added. Speaking at the launch of the office, Law Society President Kevin Martin - pictured with new regional manager Judith Mason - highlighted the work the Society was doing in areas such as the White Paper on legal services reform, home information packs, and legal aid.
