Law students can now apply for internships by posting a photo on Instagram, alongside a caption about who inspires their career goals.

The National Work Experience competition, organised by the University of Law, offers students the chance to do unpaid work experience at firms across the country, including Shoosmiths and Gateley PLC.

The first round of the competition requires entrants to post a photo or video on the picture sharing app Instagram, with a caption about who inspires their career goals. The hashtag #Uinspire must be used and the University of Law must also be tagged in the post.

Two weeks after the first deadline, five finalists per university campus will be interviewed via telephone and winners will be announced on 13 December.

John Watkins, employability director at ULaw, said: ‘Work experience is a valuable complement to academic achievement - many employers will find that the former allows applicants to stand out more than the latter. Employers place high value on work experience in CVs and also enjoy giving students opportunities to participate - it brings their skills to life.’
