Lawyer in the news
Who? David Hinton, 53-year-old criminal lawyer at London firm Huggins & Lewis Foskett. Why is he in the news? Acted for Ronald Jebson, who was convicted last week for the 'Babes in the Wood' murder of two children in Epping Forest in 1970.
Mr Jebson had been questioned after the murders, but the inquiry was reignited after he mentioned that he knew something to a prison guard at Whitemoor prison, where he was serving three life sentences for paedophiliac murder. Background: Worked as a company director in east London before joining Lewis Foskett in 1991 as a police station adviser.
Completed a part-time law degree at Westminster University in 1995, and Law Society Finals at Anglia University in 1997.
Articled at Huggins & Lewis Foskett in 1997, qualified in 1998.Route to the case: Recommended because of a previous record in dealing with paedophile murder cases.Thoughts on the case: 'The original 1970 investigation failed even though my client had been interviewed at that time.
The police team this time were clearly more professional and efficient.
A mobile interview unit was set up because I did not wish my client to say anything off the record that was not recorded properly; 62 tapes were made.
My client made an admission of guilt.
He is 67; he said that he wanted to clear his conscience.'Dealing with the media: 'I was approached by ITN, who were quite pushy.
I didn't say anything because I didn't want to give the media occasion to cause hurt to the parents of the two small victims.'
