Lawyer in the news
Who?: Gwyn Jones, 40-year-old head of crime and licensing at six-partner Rhyl-based firm Gamlins.
Why is he in the news? Acting for Craig Evans, the farmer who disrupted Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott's campaign trail when he threw an egg.
Mr Prescott lashed out and the situation escalated into a public brawl.
The situation resulted in calls for Mr Prescott's resignation and landed him with the new nickname 'Two Jabs'.
North Wales police are investigating the matter, while Mr Evans is considering suing Mr Prescott.
Background: Law degree from Liverpool Polytechnic (now John Moores University) from 1978-1981.
Law Society finals at the Chester College of Law in 1982.
Qualified with leading Welsh firm Leo Abse & Cohen in 1984, where he remained undertaking criminal work until 1995, when he moved to become a consultant with Gamlins.
He was appointed a deputy district judge in January this year.
Route to the case: 'I am a duty solicitor, but in this case another client recommended me to Mr Evans.' Thoughts on the case: 'From a criminal point of view, the matter has been blown out of all proportion.
It did, however, put some colour and interest in what some people maintain was a lacklustre political campaign.
Mr Evans is a very private person who did not relish the press camping on his doorstep.
If it had been anyone else but Mr Prescott, things would never have gone so far.
Mr Evans has a legitimate grievance, but did not express his frustration for the sake of notoriety.
North Wales police are dealing with the matter at a very high level and I expect that a sensible resolution will be found in the near future.
Whatever decision is taken will not please everyone.'Dealing with the media: 'Most lawyers in these situations find it quite daunting, but I think it is all a case of working with and managing the media to take the pressure off the client.
That is why I have been standing out there making press statements and giving soundbites - so that Mr Evans could leave the office without being noticed.'Paula Rohan
