Laytons uncork bubbly alliance

Some alliances are just meant to be: Morecambe and Wise, Marks & Spencer, and Laytons and Laytons.

City-based law firm Laytons has stumbled on a tremendous wheeze that makes it seem ever so important - Laytons, a wine merchants in Chancery Lane, sells its own branded champagne and the law firm (which is entirely unconnected) buys it by the lorryload for any event where celebration is required.

Whereas other law firms go to all sorts of lengths to have their own labels produced and put on bottles, Laytons has it all done for them - and it looks ever so pukka too.

On this occasion, Laytons solicitor Perran Jervis (pictured left) is marking the firm's work for supermarket chain Somerfield on outsourcing its depot arrangements with Martin Oakes from Somerfield.

A word to the marketing wise, however: we get the point that Laytons are involved - the umbrella isn't really necessary, but at least they do not also have Laytons (the law firm, that is) pens sticking out of their pockets.
