PricewaterhouseCoopers' law firm Landwell has made a fuss in recent months over the choice of its name.

Branding consultants were brought in, no doubt at considerable expense, and the result was a name that was deliberately innocuous to avoid any possible clashes.

But the ploy may have backfired as Internet surfers searching for the firm are presented with an array of other options, including a site set up by Meg Egglestone, a dog breeder from Lillydale in Australia.

The Web site is called 'Landwell - home of the smooth dachshunds'.

She could be writing about lawyers as well when she says: 'Life without one can be and is very tedious and dreary.

However, life with a very special little friend, a dachshund is joyful and full of surprises.

There is a certain thrill in observing their boundless energy, and their delightful games.

I am always awed by their beauty, their character, and aloofness.' But this is not the only Web site which is vyeing for business under the Landwell name.

Landwell Reed Knives is a small company that was started in 1986 to fullfill the pressing need amongst oboe players for a better reed knife.

A Landwell (the law firm) spokesman said: 'I think they are unlikely to be confused.

I can think of much worse things to be confused with.' Woof.
