The legal sector’s post-pandemic rebound continued in September, official statistics reveal today. Total turnover for the sector reached £3.42 billion, 12.3% up on the same month last year, the Office for National Statistics Monthly Business Survey reported.

Turnover was 17% up on August 202, reflecting the usual summer lull.

Although the legal sector grew faster than the overall UK services sector month on month, its year-on-year rebound is five percentage points smaller, reflecting the fact that many service businesses closed entirely for parts of 2020.

Commenting on the figures, Julie Norris, regulatory partner, legal services at London firm Kingsley Napley said, 'The UK’s legal industry has motored ahead in September. These strong results will reassure firm leaders about current macro conditions but there remain many challenges on the horizon, whether Covid, Brexit, or various regulatory pressures.'
