LETTER SHOCK ; ;I have recently received a letter from the Legal Services Commission financial services section telling me that my firms account has been in debit for several months.

;On that basis, the commission does not wish to proceed with the normal system of recoupment of payments on account because it perceives it will take some months to clear the balance.

The letter goes on to request that I forward a cheque to the Legal Services Commission within the next 21 days, which is fair enough.

;The letter also says: In the absence of a response to this letter it may be necessary for the commission to commence taking proceedings against you to recover these costs.

;This is the first approach in writing or otherwise that my firm has had in relation to this matter.

I have written to the individual who has penned the letter together with his superior indicating the sum will be ;repaid as requested but also indicating that, in my view, ;the tone of the letter is an absolute disgrace.

Do we really need the profession to be dealt with in this way and does it show in a true light how the commission really view this profession ? ;Eric Morris, Osborne Morris & Morgan, Leighton Buzzard, Beds.
