DECISION MADE
The Carter proposals for legal aid pose a significant threat to the future of hundreds of law firms nationally and to the livelihoods of thousands of solicitors.
Oldham Law Association proposes to draft a response to the proposals as part of the Department for Constitutional Affairs consultation process, but we note with dismay that there is a very limited period for consultation and that the Legal Services Commission intends to publish a detailed response as early as November. This is yet a further indication that the government has made up its mind to implement Carter.
