Legal Info: access to 12,000 publications world-wide

LexisNexis Butterworths last week launched a multi-million pound revamp of its on-line information and research service after two years of practitioner consultation and testing.

The service gives subscribers access to hundreds of legal, tax and regulatory business publications, such as Halsbury's Laws, the All England Law Reports and Tolley's Tax Annuals, as well as a range of other materials including Financial Services Authority handbooks and Revenue & Customs manuals.

Coupled with this is an on-line news and business service, which provides news from more than 12,000 publications worldwide, together with market, business and industry information.

The user interface, search and document delivery functions have been redesigned in conjunction with users.

LexisNexis computer engineers deigned and enhanced the IT platform, which is based on the XML coding system.

Bill Marshall, publishing systems director of LexisNexis, said: 'LexisNexis Butterworths new on-line solution has been developed in close partnership with customers to offer enhanced research tools and increased functionality to provide genuine commercial advantages.'

He added: 'The design development has been led by our ongoing client relationships but driven by our clear focus on technological innovation.'
