Firms striving to achieve the government's vision of paperless conveyancing offices are becoming so concerned about security, they are investing much time and money in implementing their own systems.

Cyber law specialists London-based Kaltons is the latest to have drafted in IT consultants to beef up its on-line security measures, to protect e-mail correspondence it exchanges with clients.London firm Hobson Audley worked with Trustis to set up a similar system earlier this year (see [2001] Gazette, 1 June, 16).'The Electronic Communications Act 2000 encourages wider use of e-commerce, but assuring the integrity of information transfer between client and legal representative is a major concern,' said Kaltons senior partner Maitland Kalton.Paula Rohan
