London calling as CLA looks forward to 50th anniversary
The next Commonwealth Law Association conference will be held in London in about two years' time, CLA officials have announced.
The London event will mark a half-century of CLA gatherings; the first one was held there in 1955.
The new CLA president, London-based barrister Colin Nicholls QC, said the planned conference had the backing of the Lord Chancellor's Department and the Foreign Office and that both the Bar Council and the Law Society welcomed the announcement.
Society Vice-President Peter Williamson said he anticipated that the Society would assist with the event's organisation.
The CLA secretariat is currently based at the Society's Chancery Lane headquarters.
