Love in law firms has taken many forms over the years on these pages: we've had lawyers at Hart Brown in Surrey getting hitched to each other, four members of the family law team at Southampton firm Eric Robinson doing their best to lead by example last year and all getting wed in the space of around two months, and even a baby named after its secretary mother's employer (crawl forward, young Steele, whose mum's waters broke while at work at Steele & Co).

And now we have Birkett Long bringing romance to the good folk of Essex by giving visitors to its new Web site the chance to win a romantic break for two.

Miranda Brown (pictured with the firm's business development manager, David Cant) and her husband were the lucky winners and will be off to Alicante in Spain shortly.

Should either of them fall over and break something, or the hotel turn out to be only half-built or even the romance go wrong (all of which we sincerely hope will not happen, of course), it must be reassuring to know that Birkett Long will also be there to pick up the pieces.
