Oxford University has created a chair in law and finance following a donation of more than £500,000 over five years by City firm Lovells. The post will be advertised over the summer with a view to the successful applicant taking up the position at the beginning of 2007 and initiating a law and finance course later in the year. David Hudd, head of Lovells' finance practice, said: 'There is a natural link between our work at Lovells and the creation of this new chair and course. A significant number of trainees each year who join Lovells come from Oxford University, and we felt it was appropriate for us to recognise this through our donation and to make our commitment to the university much more visible.'
