Lure of cyberspace claims two ambitious lawyers

Two solicitors have entered the heady world of the dot-com entrepreneur with the launch of two Web sites this month.

Graham Spitz left Westminster firm Radcliffes, where he was an assistant solicitor, to become a director of adminapolis.com, a one-stop shop for tools, services and resources for secretaries and office workers.

Having met adminapolis' founder Alby Van Wyk through Radcliffes, he left the firm earlier this year in search of 'some excitement and some new challenges'.

The company, which is currently renting office space at Mr Spitz's old firm in Westminster, has been 'much more successful than we anticipated'.

It has attracted a large number of legal secretaries, and special password restricted clubs for them will soon be set up.

The lure of the Internet goldrush has also proved too much for Benedict Ely, who was previously an intellectual property specialist with City firm Willoughby & Partners. After years spent advising clients on their business ideas, he and former investment banker Charles Doyle have set up an on-line delivery service, www.beckandcall.co.uk

'I had spent ten years advising clients on the creation and exploitation of their ideas and brands,' he said.

'This is an opportunity for me to exploit my own ideas and create an entirely new brand.'

The site, aimed at busy office workers, offers an on-line shopping service with free delivery at any time specified by the customer.
