Partner promotion announcements by two international firms suggest continuing optimism at the top end of the legal services market.
In its latest promotion round, Linklaters announced 37 new partners globally, up from 34 last year. The practices with the largest number of new partners are litigation, arbitration and investigations and mainstream corporate. Of the 37, 14 are in the UK, 12 in Europe, seven in Asia and four in the US.
The new cohort 'will be instrumental in strengthening our global platform', Aedamar Comiskey, senior partner and chair, said.
Fieldfisher meanwhile announced 12 promotions to the partnership, down from 13 last year but with a wider geographical spread.
The promotions span the firm’s Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, Hamburg, London, Madrid and Manchester offices. Five are based in the London office and two in Manchester.
Managing partner Robert Shooter said the promotions reinforce the firm's 'one Europe strategy'.
