Maya Devani, a 26-year-old solicitor from Harrow, was convicted of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice last week at the Old Bailey. Her client, Timothy Shaun Merchant, was found guilty of attempting to pervert the course of justice, as well as two counts of attempted murder following the non-fatal shooting of two men in Caledonian Road, Islington, London in August 2004. The pair will be sentenced on 24 July. Devani's solicitor, Burton Copeland partner Brian Spiro, said she will appeal.
