The Trainee Solicitors Group has broadly backed the Regulation Board's proposals for a new framework for work-based learning through a two-tier system of training, but warned it has 'grave concerns' about some of the reforms. The group said it was concerned that protections currently afforded to trainees - such as the minimum salary and the indemnity - would vanish. It added that those training with non-accredited institutions could have to pay for necessary assessments and appraisals. 'Trainees are vulnerable, and require protections within the profession,' the group said. 'The minimum salary should be retained.'
