Mishcons wins first private anti-social behaviour order
London firm Mishcon de Reya has acted in gaining what is thought to be the first anti-social behaviour order (ASBO) applied for by a private sector organisation.
Holborn Business Partnership (HBP), a private sector-led partnership working to improve Holborn as a place in which to live and work, joined with the Metropolitan Police and Camden Council in London to enable the ASBO late last month.
The person it was enabled against was involved in the drugs trade in the Camden, Bloomsbury and Euston areas and was banned from Holborn and a large part of Camden.
He breached the ASBO the day after it was enforced, and was immediately sentenced to five months in jail.
Gordon Campbell, head of planning and environment at Mishcons, who acted for the council, HBP and the police in the application, said: 'This is an example of public/private partnership at its best.'
The firm is a member of HBP and acted on a pro bono basis in the case.
