Mixing with the stars
Manchester Law Society President Michael 'Star Quality' Clavell-Bate is doing a magnificent job in meeting the challenge set to illustrate his column in the society's monthly bulletin with a picture of him meeting someone famous.
Mr Clavell-Bate clearly keeps his badge of office handy just in case he should bump into the great and good.
At first, he had to resort to an Ali G lookalike (see [2001] Gazette, 18 October, 14), but these are genuinely (clockwise from top): Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer (one of the solicitors' profession's more famous drop-outs), Coronation Street's Suranne Jones, Des O'Connor and Clive Anderson (easy one that, as he spoke at the Law Society annual conference).
Rumours that celebrities are now queuing up to share the limelight with Mr Clavell-Bate, a partner at Eversheds, are, we are very much assured, entirely false.
