The London office of south-east firm Thomas Eggar has a new head of company/commercial after hiring Jean-Paul da Costa from Manches.

Also in London, Mishcon de Reya has a new private client partner - Andrew Goldstone, who was founder managing director of Freeman Business Information.

Banking partner John Hayward has joined Berwin Leighton Paisner from Osborne Clarke.

Also leaving Osborne Clarke is corporate restructuring and insolvency lawyer Richard Baines, who has joined Holman Fenwick & Willan as a partner.

James Hardy, who was a senior corporate associate at Linklaters, has joined Rosenblatt as a partner.

London and Hertfordshire firm Curwens has brought in family partner Stuart Hughes from Walkers of Royston.

Nigel Mears, who was a partner at Lichfield firm Keelys, has joined Birmingham firm Putsman.wlc as a partner and head of family.

In Lincoln, Richard Marshall has joined Sills & Betteridge to head its criminal department.

He leaves Andrew & Co.

Lancashire firm Backhouse Jones has boosted its transport capability with partner Andrew Woolfall from Wake Dyne Lawton.

Partners - London promotions

Of nine new partners at Simmons & Simmons, taking its partnership to 216, just one is based domestically: employment lawyer Julian Taylor.

Newly merged Addleshaw Goddard has celebrated its formation with ten new partners, making it a 173-partner firm: Ged Barnes (corporate recovery), Adrian Bever (insurance litigation), Rachel Bhaskaran, Andrew Blower and Lucy Sturrock (all property), Mike Duggan and Geraint Harries (both corporate), Jo Evans (employment), Ian Hargreaves (litigation), and Euan Lawson (IP).

Taylor Wessing has made up corporate lawyers Jayne Schnider and Richard Bursby, taking its UK partnership to 97.

Holman Fenwick & Willan is up to 83 partners after promoting shipping lawyers Andrew Chamberlain and Dimitri Vassos, energy and trade specialist Damian Honey, and Simon Sloane (insurance and reinsurance).

Also on 83 partners is Barlow Lyde & Gilbert after Jason Bright (insurance and product liability), Matthew Lawson and Simon Willis (both commercial litigation), Aidan Thomson (environment) and Katy-Marie Wilson (insurance and reinsurance disputes) took the step up.

Two of the six new partners at Ince & Co are based in London: Stephen Jarvis (corporate) and David McInnes (litigation).

It now has 69 partners.

Farrer & Co has elected three partners, taking the total to 58: James Carleton (charities), Edmund Fetherston-Dilke (estates and private property) and Katie Lancaster (employment and pensions).

Reynolds Porter Chamberlain now has 55 partners after James Miller (construction and physical risks) and Sanjay Pritam (corporate/commercial) took the step up.

The promotion of Lee Medlock (property) and Justin Starling (corporate) takes Speechly Bircham to 44 partners.

There are 36 partners at Kingsley Napley after Sophie Purkis (commercial litigation) and Nicolas Rollason (immigration) were made up.

Karen Kirkam has become a partner and head of construction at Boodle Hatfield, now a 28-partner firm.

Bristows has hit the quarter-century of partners with the appointment of corporate lawyer Iain Redford.

Partners - regional promotions

Canterbury practice Furley Page now has 20 partners after making up corporate lawyer Jeremy Licence.

Sussex firm Smith Gadd & Co has a fourth partner after making up family specialist Helen Starke.

As well as its new family partner, London and Hertfordshire firm Curwens has promoted family lawyers Peter Grunberger and Clare Pilsworth, taking it to 14 partners.

Elsewhere in the home counties, Milton Keynes firm Kimbells has promoted corporate lawyer John Keeble.

Wills and probate lawyer Daniel Whiddett has been promoted in Brignalls Balderston Warren's Biggleswade office.

To the west, Bond Pearce has 61 partners after elevating Tim Baily (property), Gareth Kagan (head of banking and insolvency litigation), and Stephen Lister (commercial litigation).

In Sheffield, Watson Esam has five partners after promoting family lawyers Michelle Cooper and Toby Netting.

Niche licensing firm John Gaunt & Partners has a fourth partner in the shape of Michelle Hazelwood.

Derby practice Flint Bishop & Barnett has made up commercial property lawyer Heather Dixon.

In Manchester, Rowe Cohen has added Robert Sproston (personal injury) and Mark Woodall (defendant insurance) to make 18 partners.

Eleven partners for Glaisyers after personal injury lawyer Alison Connolly was promoted.

Colette Johnson has become the seventh partner at Turner Parkinson and head of commercial property.

Personal injury lawyer Suzanne Connell has been named an equity partner at Scott Duff & Co in Carlisle.
